After years of working in the wedding industry in various roles, Laura Ann Lewis founded Parasol Events in 2004. Laura was determined to create a unique event planning company that would truly demonstrate attention and care for its clients, vendors and employees.

Combining her natural creativity, listening and organizational skills with a work and academic background in management and web and graphic design, Laura has built a reputation for delivering quality event results that exceed client expectations.

Having an eye for beauty and a strong visual aesthetic enables Laura and her team to provide value to clients by creating personalized and appealing event designs for both wedding ceremonies and receptions. In addition, Laura has an uncanny ability to help others maintain focus on the big picture, while establishing and working to practical timelines that ensure each event is a success.

Laura believes that life should be a balance of work and fun. Laura is very active; engaging in running, surfing, cycling, hiking and swimming on a daily basis. For mental stimulation, there is always a book or two on the nightstand, engaging conversations with her husband, family and friends, and domestic and foreign films.

Alia Pharr Kennedy

Alia Pharr Kennedy comes to the wedding industry by way of a diverse career background that ranges from work in Holistic Sciences, through to Program Coordination. Her combined work experiences and academic background have all helped Alia to develop and utilize the organizational, communication and creative skills she consistently uses as a Wedding Consultant with Parasol Events.

Confessing to an overtly organized personality, Alia channels her penchant for details into getting happy results for clients. Alia puts her heart and soul into working with engaged couples to ensure a clear understanding of their needs so that she can execute on those desires most effectively. Alia also strives to bring an "Ohana (means family in an extended sense of the term including blood-related, adoptive or intentional. It emphasizes that family and friends are bound together and members must cooperate and remember one another) to ensure that client couples realize an intimate and meaningful experience for their wedding events.

The allure of "the island" is not lost on Alia. She recognizes the importance of utilizing the beauty of Hawaii as a compelling backdrop and foundation for creating a memorable life event. Born and raised in Hawaii, Alia is uniquely qualified to identify the best possibilities for the best results.

Alia is an outdoors enthusiast, and in her "off" hours, spends as much time as possible with family members, who all share her love and appreciation for the islands of Hawaii. In addition to enjoying the great outdoors, Alia likes to tend to her garden, cook new and interesting things in the kitchen and of course, the beach.
